• For a baseline:
    WPSC page cache off
CloudFlare (CF) cache purged; into CF Development mode
Page regen and serve directly from Bluehost (CF Dynamic)
    Time: 26.5s

    WPSC page cache off
CloudFlare (CF) cache purged, but CF cache is ON
    Regen was 22s
next pass was 3.4s (all from CF)

    WPSC page cache now ON
    Regen all pages
    Purge only CF cache
    Next pass was about 22s
So, the WPSC page cache had no impact

Enable WPSC fallback page cache, and choose do NOT purge with CF cache purge
    Purge and reload all caches
    Purge ony CF cache
    Next pass about 20s

The timing will of course vary in repeated tests, but I’m really not seeing any impact from WPSC caching. All of this is limited to fetching only the html files at the start of each page.

    Update:
I did not have the Cloudflare WP plugin activated, as it didn’t seem to be needed, as my IP and DNS was already over at CF. Just to check, I activated it and ran the above tests again.

    Now, there WAS a difference.
When the WPSC Fallback page cache was turned on, the CF cache load went down from 22s -> 11s

  • You’re using Cloudflare too which makes things more complicated. Chances are they have better servers than your hosted website. I’m not sure what plugin you’re using to manage the Cloudflare part but if you only use WP Super Cache you will see a difference between cached and not cached page loads, if your site does anything more complicated than showing a simple blog.
