Upon installing, I get this message:

WP Super Cache is activated, but either you are not using WPSC mod_rewrite to serve cache files or the WPSC .htaccess code was NOT found in your root .htaccess file.
If you are not using WPSC mod_rewrite then just add this commented out line of code in anywhere in your root htaccess file – # WPSuperCache. If you are using WPSC mod_rewrite and the WPSC htaccess code is not in your root htaccess file then click this Update WPSC link to go to the WPSC Settings page and click the Update Mod_Rewrite Rules button. If your root .htaccess file is locked then you will need to unlock it to allow WPSC to write its htaccess code to your root htaccess file. Refresh your browser to perform a new htaccess file check after updating WPSC mod_rewrite.

I switched to mod_rewrite…but then my WPSC pages did not match. So I switched back.

What does it mean to “add this commented out line of code in anywhere in your root htaccess file – # WPSuperCache”?

How do I unlock my root .htaccess file?

It would be nice if you included a simplified instruction on “installation” page.

If you would like to use WP Super Cache mod_rewrite with BPS a setup tutorial has been created in the link below. Note: disregard the references to AutoRestore and F-Lock in BPS Pro.

To unlock your root .htaccess file go to the Edit/Upload/Download page and click the Unlock htaccess File button. If you do not see this button then your Server type does not allow you to lock or unlock your .htaccess files.

If you do not want to use mod_rewrite then you can add # WPSuperCache to the CUSTOM CODE TOP: Add php.ini handler code and / or miscellaneous custom code here text box, click the Save Root Custom Code button, go to the Security Modes page and click the create secure.htaccess File button and activate Root folder BulletProof Mode again.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Your instructions to “If you do not want to use mod_rewrite…” WAS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
The program is ALL “GREEN” GO, and seems to be working GREAT!

Thanks for the quick reply, too!!!

For anyone else who may need it:
If you do not want to use mod_rewrite then you can add # WPSuperCache to the CUSTOM CODE TOP: Add php.ini handler code and / or miscellaneous custom code here text box, THEN click the “Save Root Custom Code button”, go to the Security Modes page and click the create secure.htaccess File button and activate Root folder BulletProof Mode again.
