WPPA Alt Tag Question

One more question, with pretty much the same SEO issues in mind:

If either or both of the above sets of text is not an alt tag, is that text crawlable by the Google bot?

Alt is the photo name. The photo name is initially (right after upload) the filename. You may change the photo name in the edit albums admin. It does not need to have a filename extension. The file itsself is saved as [number.[ext], e.g. 34.jpg or 35.png. If you change the photo name, you will also change the alt value.

2nd question (Google): i do not know.

The alt tag is good enough.

The next time my site gets crawled, I should be able to tell if that descriptive content gets picked up, as well. I’ll let you know.

I would like to know indeed.
For SEO purposes i am thinking of making a status per photo (featured or so) and add (for featured photos) a meta tag in the header with photo name and full url (photo on a gallerypage). Do you think that would be a good idea?

That would be a great idea. It would further enchance SEO for those who take advantage of the feature, and every bit of Google juice counts!

Would that meta tag allow for linking directly to a particular image? If so, even better, because it’s a feature I’d love to use. You recommended using the addThis plugin along with the Custom Content bar for this purpose, but if this feature were included in the meta tag, that’s one less plugin I’d need. I look forward to the update.
