    Hi Hector:

Sometime yesterday the plugin stopped counting. I had a problem months ago and fixed it by following the advice in “Is WPP compatible with my Cache” — I am using WP Optimize.

I checked the settings in minify/javascript and also that the process HTML was off. Those are correct.

Next I disabled the caching portion of WP Optimize and cleared the cache of WPP (short term list)

But, alas it is still not working.

I check the WAF (NinjaFirewall) and even uncheck disallow enumeration through the WordPress REST API — nothing in the firewall is blocking access to the API that I can see — and this setting was set to Allow when WPP was working previously.

Can you think of anything I am missing? I did deactivate and reactivate the WPP plugin also ..

The counted articles just stopped displaying also — even the long term articles — BUT the Hall of Fame articles are still correct and visible in the Settings.

    Thank you —

    Jack Mullen

    Hi @jackmullen,

You have the exact same problem as the one someone else reported here very recently: AJAX loading breaks with upgrade to 5.5.

Unfortunately they didn’t mention which plugins they’re using on their website though nor how exactly they fixed it (only mentioned that they used some filter) so if you could share your site’s setup I may be able to help out. For example, sharing the information displayed on the Debug screen (Settings > WordPress Popular Posts, click on the Debug link you can see at the top center of the screen) will help me try and recreate your setup locally and hopefully trigger the bug so I can understand what causes it.

Really? This issue is caused by the recent jQuery upgrade? Wow. @jackmullen, could you please try it out and report back?

Update: Just tried it myself and no, it doesn’t fix it. I’ll investigate this further.

Yet another update: @jackmullen please update to version 5.2.3 to fix this issue (and if you’re using a caching plugin, please remember to flush its cache after upgrading WPP.)

    Thank you Hector:

I was out of touch for 24 hours — but the upgrade fixed my problem. Thank you for the focused attention on this problem and the way you kept me informed.
