    Hi,
    a few days ago I realized that WPP isn′t counting the views of the posts properly. It seems that only my appearance on the site is counted. The site has almost 300 visitors per day on average. Considering that the amount of counted views is definetly too less.

    So I did some troubleshooting as described in the forum – but still no improvement.
    – deactivated cache plugin
    – renewed the wp_header
    – deactivated and activated the plugin itself

    The problems occured first (at least to me) as the SSL-certificate expired and my hoster forgot to extend it automatically. As a result my analytics tool Matomo stopped counting the visitors on my page and then I became attentive in terms of WPP.

    Maybe someone has/had similar difficulties to deal with and is able to help me out.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @blogpublicrelations!

    The plugin is having problems updating the views count of your posts & pages because access to the REST API has been restricted. This is the response your server returns:

    {
      "code":"rest_cannot_access",
      "message":"Only authenticated users can access the REST API.",
      "data":{"status":401}
    }

    I guess you’re using some sort of security / firewall plugin on your site and that you have restricted access to the REST API. You’ll need to allow it so WPP can keep track of your pageviews.

    Hi Hector,

    thanks for the immediate reply. Currently I am using two plugins, SUCURI and PASSWORD PROTECTED, that may affect WPP. But especially on SUCURI I was not able to find any connection to REST API.

    Maybe you have any experience with that plugin from former incidents?

    Thanks

    Hey @blogpublicrelations,

    No idea, to be honest. I’m not familiar with these plugins. Other users had the same problem but they were using a different security plugin.
