• I’ve downloaded your widget, and first off I really enjoy the customization; it’s an amazing tool and it’s all for free. Thanks so much for that! That said, I’m having a hard time using the tool effectively. Currently, it will only sort my most popular posts based on the data it’s received since it’s been installed. So popular posts I had from earlier are completely negated because the views happened before I installed the widget.

That said, I use Jetpack to track view counts. They have a popular posts widget but it’ only tracks data from the last 48 hours, hence why I downloaded WPP. Is there anyway I can use the WPP widget and have it fetch stats from the Jetpack? Or is there another way to include view counts retroactively? From pages that I posted a while ago?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi there!

Last time I checked their API wasn’t publicly available for developers. You had to opt-in via email or something like that -I honestly don’t remember- in order to gain access to it. I could take another look.

Assuming that there’s an open API and that we developers can get full access to Jetpack’s data (the 48 hours limit you mentioned worries me, need to know if that limitation also applies to third-party software such as WPP) I might consider adding support for it. It’d take a while though since this would imply adding some sort of functionality to let the user decide where WPP should get the data from (Jetpack or WPP’s DB tables), add the logic behind to get the data, tests to make sure everything works as expected, etc. You get the picture ??

I’ll make sure to investigate about this as soon as I can. Will post back to let you know what I find.

    Hey Hector!

Thanks for the reply. There are some customization options within Jetpack to include more than 48 hours, but they’re clunky at best. All of the data is available for beyond 48 hours, they simply only have a user friendly option at max 48 hours. Great for blogs with high traffic and frequent posting, but not so great for those of us that post less frequently and on a hobby basis. ??

So I would think the data would able be there for use, if the API was made publicly available.

Anyway, thanks for taking a look into this! I plan on using your widget once I get a couple months of solid stat tracking. I look forward to what your investigation finds!
