WPMU to WP 3 upgrade woes Dedicaed IP needed for WP 3 multisite?
-
I had a set of blogs (WP-generated subdomains) running on the last version of WordPress MU. I hesitated to upgrade to WP 3.0 as, well, nothing was broken.
Yesterday the Dedicated IP subscription necessary for MU was left to expire by accident. As such, all of the subdomain blogs died…”Forbidden – you don’t have permission to access /wpmu/ on this server” errors for the lot. The main/core blog still works, however.
As everything was blown up, I decided to upgrade to WP 3.0.2 in an effort to compound my problems. WP 3 + Multi Site/ Creating a Network seemed to install w/o a hitch. However I still get the same ‘Forbidden’ error message for the subdomain blogs and all standard fixes (.htaccess edits…wp-content/blogs.php was killed…I added existing blog names to the banned name list…added a wildcard record…etc) have failed. In short:
– Does WP 3 Multi Site need a Dedicated IP address as WP MU did? I can’t seem to confirm or deny that.
– If not, does anybody have a sense of what I might try to get these subdomains back on their feet?I’m on a Godaddy server…Linux…not sure if the Dedicated IP exists or not (probably not).
Thanks!
