WPML: why some languages may not work

    Hi!

    I love to use justify for that neat overall look but was having spacing issues. Your plugin seems to work well to help with this.

    Initially, I wanted to ask help because hyphenation for English and Swedish was working but not Estonian and Finnish. But then I figured it out and thought to still post to leave some feedback as to why that was.

    English in WPML —> Languages in Default locale column was en_US, Swedish was sv_SE. But Estonian was simply et and Finnish fi. After I added the same format as English and Swedish had (et_EE for Estonian and fi_FI for Finnish), I got hyphenation working also for Estonian and Finnish.

    As I saw a low scoring review before installing that Finnish was not working (though still wanted to try and installed the plugin anyway), I just wanted to give feedback that most likely that user had a similar error.

    Thank you, that’s an interesting observation. (I had not linked that review to a multilingual environment, but it really is the only explanation, because otherwise, when you set the hyphenation language to Finnish, that’s what it will use.)

    The automatic language/locale detection should work with a simple language code like fi instead of a full locale like fi_FI, but clearly there’s some bug. I will investigate this.

    Note: I’ve retagged the thread as “unresolved” because it is in essence a bug report ??
