WPML translation doesn't move when switching custom post type

I’m currently trying to switch a custom post type to another custom post type and keep the translation tied together with it (I’m using WPML). I can move the English version easy enough but the translation doesn’t come with it. If I click to edit the translation it jumps to the old custom post type section, then if I switch the translation, it doesn’t then link up with the English version when it moves.
Is anyone having the same problem? How can I solve this? I’ve seen other posts on the subject but it doesn’t seem to work.
