WPML language selector (dropdown) in menu not working

i’ve recently updated to the most recent version, and run in the dropdown nav menus issue.

i’ve read and understood the issue with the navigation dropdowns needing a “custom link” as “opener”, but how do we apply this to the WPML language selector when shown in the navigation?

there’s no easy and straightforward way to create a “Language” item-opener with “#” as link which, on click, shows the available languages.

any suggestion?
