    Hi there.

I have a site running Complianz & WPML. Primary language is English, also has italian and Portugese.

I’ve searched forums and docs and have translated the cookie bar via strings in WPML.

The cookie policy generated by Complianz I’m struggling with.

I have allowed Complianz to generate the page, then I’ve duplicated for each language as explained in the docs.

As you can see at the attached link, the pages are not translating.

I think Italian is a language that should automatically translate? While I think I’d need to do Portugese manually?

I’ve also found docs suggesting I can stop the documents synchronising: https://complianz.io/editing-legal-documents/ – that would do the job if I could then translate that page with WPML, but I don’t have the ‘Document Status’ option in the classic editor.

Would greatly appreciate your help, we run Complianz free and paid across 20 sites, and this is no. 1 of 3 with WPML I need to translate (this and one other on the free plan, and a third on a paid plan).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @pennipick,

Italian and Portguese are indeed supported languages, I just tried this on a testing site with WPML and Complianz and it works here.

Could you check whether you have any translation updates available under Dashboard > Updates > Update Translations?

Additionally, when I try to visit the English version of the Cookie Policy (EU) on your website, I seem to be getting into a redirect loop: “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS”. Perhaps you could also have a closer look at the Cookie Policy (EU) page in English, to see if you can find any errors here?

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

Hi @jarnovos thanks for the fast reply.

No translation updates available in the dashboard unfortunately.

The too many redirects error started to appear after I’d tried multiple methods and deleted and recreated the page repeatedly.

I’ve now uninstalled Complianz, and plan to try on another site (almost an identical copy of the original site).

Can I check the ‘correct’ steps I should be taking to be successful?

The site you linked to shows blank pages for the cookie policy on anything other than EU. There’s no translated options either.

    Hi @pennipick,

Upon creating your Documents in Complianz and setting up WPML, you should see these “+” icons next to the legal documents.
    image

I clicked the + to add a new translation for Cookie Policy (CA) in Italian. This opens the page in Classic Editor, and the “language of the page” should already be set to Italian. Insert the shortcode for your document and Save/Publish the page. Schermafbeelding-2021-10-22-om-10-01-51

Which results in the Cookie Policy (CA) in Italian, like in this screenshot: Schermafbeelding-2021-10-22-om-10-03-33

If this doesn’t work, I’d suspect either a corrupt translation file (/wp-content/plugins/complianz-gdpr/languages/) or perhaps a misconfiguration in WPML. You can download & reupload the plugins translation files manually. Click the Stable version of your desired language, scroll down and select Export “all current” as “.po/pot”.

On the test site I had indeed only translated the Cookie Policy (EU) to Italian for demonstration purposes, you can use the language switcher on the bottom of the page to switch back to English.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Thanks @jarnovos appreciate your help.

I set up clean on a staging site and everything worked perfectly, but nothing appears to solve it for the live site.

Clearly something has been corrupted, but now I know it will work I should be fine in resolving with a clean install.

    Thanks!
