  • Hi immergente,

the plugin has not been tested for compatibility with the WPML. However, some users have definitely used it with WPML. You may try the basic version of our plugin with the WPML if you have it.

If you don’t have the WPML yet, our plugin already offers a large amount of translations (Brazilian Portuguese, Bulagarian, Canadian French, Dutch, Greek, Italian, Lithuanian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish)!

If the language you wish to translate our plugin into is not within the list, you can easily make your own translation. A template .POT file is given to you. You simply have to open the file with PoEdit and make your translations and upload them to your WordPress.

    Regards,

    Hi,

Is there any update on the dual language question over the 11 months since this last response?

I need to be able to create a dual language product catalogue (English and Chinese) rather than a single language version but in a different language. I already have WPML pro and Ultimate Product Catalogue pro.

    Many thanks,

    Martin.

    Hi Martin,

Most of the strings in the plugin code are internationalized/localized. This means that they should be automatically translated if you have a specific language set up in WPML and have the “.mo” and “.po” files for that language. It also means that they should be found by the the WPML String Translation extension.

Because the product catalog isn’t a custom post type, it doesn’t work with WPML’s built-in way of switching between multiple languages of the same post. It is for this reason that we suggest you maintain separate catalogs for different languages.

    Hi,

Ah OK. So if I understand correctly, I need to set up a duplicated set of catalogues for visitors who select Chinese from the WPML switcher – is that correct..?

Since a catalogue shows up as a Page on the Page listing screen then I assume that WPML will switch to it on the front of the site when Chinese is selected and allow editing of it in the admin area, as with non-catalogue pages – have I got that correct..?

    Many thanks,

    Martin.

    Hi Martin,

Exactly. Just link the two catalog pages (English and Chinese) with WPML and then make sure the appropriate catalog shortcodes are on those pages.

    OK, great, many thanks!

    Cheers,

    Martin.
