    Hi there

Notifications are not delivering from the WP form on my website.

I tried troubleshooting by following this link https://wpforms.com/docs/troubleshooting-email-notifications/. and it takes me through to a page that reads ‘you are allowing wpmailsmtp.com to: read, compose, send and permanently delete all your email from Gmail’.

I came out of everything as this didn’t look right.

Could someone suggest where I went wrong please?

    Thanks

    Hi @fertissues,

I have tried to access your contact form page, but I’m getting the following error (see).

Are you able to send test emails from WP Mail SMTP -> Settings -> Email Test area?

If you’re able to send test emails, then head over to the WPForms -> Settings -> Email tab and make sure that you have unchecked the “Optimize Email Sending” option.

Also under the WP Mail SMTP -> Settings page, you can check the option “force from email”.

Could you please give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Hi @darshanaw.

Thank you for trying to help with this.

It’s not possible to send test emails from WP Mail settings Email Test.

There isn’t an ‘optimise email sending’ option for me to check/ uncheck.

The ‘force from email’ option was already selected.

What else could I try please?

Is it worth deleting/ removing WP Mail altogether?

    Thank you

    Hi @fertissues,

Thanks for getting in touch! If you cannot send any test emails, that means your WP Mail SMTP plugin is not configured correctly with the Gmail mailer.

When you’re sending a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test area, you should be able to see the full error log (if you’re having any issues). Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log. This will provide you an idea of what might be going on.

You may try recreating a new Google App and see if you can connect with your Gmail account.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Thanks @darshanaw.

Is ‘you are allowing wpmailsmtp.com to: read, compose, send and permanently delete all your email from Gmail bad? Should anyone do this? I had problems with WP before installing WPSMPT. So confused.

    Hi @fertissues,

First of all, I apologize for the delay.

We use various scopes of API to perform different tasks. For example, to send emails there’s one scope and to retrieve basic user info (like your optional Gmail alias addresses), there’s another scope.

As I have checked with our developers, we use the global scope to connect with Gmail / G Suite email platforms. In this way, if we push an update for a different scope, it will still backward compatible. So the existing users won’t have to recreate Google connection every time when there’s an API scope change.

Within the WP Mail SMTP Gmail mailer, we don’t delete emails, though it falls under the global API scope.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey @fertissues,

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!
