I use G Suite for my WordPress/StudioPress Wellness Pro Theme blog’s default email. It
(G Suite) is sending and receiving emails as would be expected.

I set up WP Forms for my blog’s “Contact Us” page. When I fill out the form and click “Submit” I get the expected automated response. However, no email arrives in my inbox. It is not in the Spam folder either.

I have installed the WP Mail SMTP plugin and completed the detailed instructions for “How to Securely Send WordPress Emails Using Gmail SMTP with WP Mail SMTP”

Under >settings>WP Mail SMTP>Email Test, I fill in the recipient email address and click send Email. It says the email was sent successfully, and I do indeed receive the email at the location where I sent it.

However, when filling out the WP Form on the Contact Us page I am still receiving nothing in my inbox.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi Jess,

I can’t contact Gravity Forms about the issue because of the following:

“Like most other WordPress plugins, Gravity Forms does not handle emails directly. Gravity Forms uses the wp_mail() function that is provided by WordPress to send any emails.

After WordPress hands the email off, it’s up to the mail server, as well as the recipient’s mail server, to complete the sending of the email. We don’t have any control over the delivery process once the email is passed to WordPress.

Note: WordPress allows filtering of emails sent using wp_mail() function, this means third-party plugins or custom functions can alter any aspect of the email after Gravity Forms passes it to WordPress.”

So with that said, I still don’t know what to try next.

    Hi krichman,

I’m sorry to hear they responded that way. What they said is true, but fortunately is also only part of the story. The other part of this is good news — we also know the solution: installing and setting up an SMTP plugin.

You can find all the details, including links to step-by-step tutorials for many SMTP options, over in this article about fixing email delivery issues.

And if you have additional questions, please be sure to create a new post (either here in this forum, if you decide to switch to WPForms Lite for your forms, or over in our WP Mail SMTP forum, if you decide to use this plugin to fix email issues). This helps to avoid accidentally spamming the other people who have participated in this thread, since notifications get sent out anytime we all reply here.

    Thanks! ??

I have a problem with a WP Form (and an identical problem with Contact Form 7).
    My website is https://www.wembleycompassionatefund.co.uk.
Neither Form will send notifications to gmail addresses. They happily send notifications to other email addresses.
Is there a simple solution that does not involve installing the WP SMTP plug-in?

    Hi wcfsecretary,

The issue you’re describing is likely due to strict email spam prevention settings that is wrongly detecting the notification emails as spam.

To resolve email delivery issue, we recommend using a SMTP plugin on your site so emails are sent as authenticated. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.

    Hope this helps!

I experienced the samme issue, form not sending emails to the designated address. Efter deleting the {admin_email}, I changed the from address to smtp-email, incl. two aliases. Testet each one by making a test subsmission. After a while, I can see that ALL my emails are well received in my inbox – there just seemed to be some kind of delay. After changing the from address to what it was originally, the notification email was sent immediately.

Hope this could help some people out there!

    Hi
My contact form had been working for years. I changed nothing but now I’m not getting the email from the client even though they are getting the confirmation. Not in the inbox or the spam. Any thoughts?

    Hi Steven,

Due to spam becoming smarter, email service providers are tightening their restrictions. This may result in notifications there were previously sent out being blocked.

As such we recommend setting up a SMTP plugin to send notifications as authenticated to improve email delivery. We have a list of recommended SMTP options here.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Susu,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with this, however it sounds like you’re asking about logging into your WordPress site.

We aren’t able to help with that (as we don’t have the sort of access needed), but if you’d please reach out to your site’s hosting provider they should be able to help you get this sorted out!

I am using WP Forms. I ran a test to make sure the forms were submitting and I did not receive an email notification. The page did state that it went through, however, I did not receive the email. I have not changed anything within the form – I have been using them for years. Please advise. None of the forms send the email

    Hi dracaenawines,

When you have a chance, could you please create a new thread (you can do that at the bottom of this page) with more details about the issue you’re seeing?

(The new thread is to avoid sending out emails to everyone else who has already participated in this current thread.)

Specifically, it would help us to know:

    1) What mailer you’re using
    2) What settings you’re using in that mailer
    3) Whether your From Email in WP Mail SMTP settings match the From Email used in your forms (or if you’re using the Force From Email setting in WP Mail SMTP).

    Thanks!

Add me to the list of people with emails not receiving notifications by the sender, when testing WPforms Contact forms.
    Summary:
    – Host: SiteGround
    – WPForms Pro for contact forms
    – WP Mail SMTP plugin installed
    – test email with “WP Mail SMTP” plugin works fine
    – double, triple & quadruple checked email spelling in the settings
    – I have the “Force From Email setting in WP Mail SMTP” turned ON

There is a pattern here with multiple users having same issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hi @nickristo,

I’m sorry to hear that! When you get the chance, could you create a new post? Please also let us know what Mailer you are using for WP Mail SMTP plugin.

    Thanks!

When visitors submit a message from my site using a contact form I created with WPforms I’m not receiving the message. How do I fix this issue?
