wpDataTables: What is the maximum cell width possible

The first table plugin I opted for, was too slow for the large tables I am using. Now I have a plugin, wpDataTables, that is light years faster, using side server, BUT it seems to have limitation too… table cell size. Seems to me that the maximum size of a cell is just 240 character/digits… meaning that data in the one particularly large field has been truncated. Aside from suggestions to reduce the field content, or concatenate it with other small fields, any bright ideas out there?
Is there any fix for larger fields in wpDataTables?
I think this limitation should be made know is promotional material (if indeed it is not). I never spotted this.
