Yes; I had the same problem and Google says it contains malware. So, is it really safe?

    Same here:

“File contains suspected malware URL: …/plugins/wordpress-backup-to-dropbox/readme.txt”

I uninstalled the plug in, then did a fresh install a few hours later. Ran a Wordfence scan and all is okay now, apparently.

I really hope it is safe, this plugin is incredibly useful!

I deleted the readme file, although I looked at the file and couldn’t spot anything other thank tons of links to useful resources.

Just got this one marked as malware as well: ../wp-content/backups/my_website-backup-plugins.sql.8c9e6d3a9256f1a15da0b56a848f4f51150-wpb2d-secret

I changed the alphanumeric string a little, for security purposes.

    Gday all,

I like to develop in an agile way which means that I release bug fixes to trunk as early and as often as I can. This is 2013 not 1999! ??

Plugins like Wordfence that compare your installed version of a plugin with that of what is in the plugin directory will incorrectly tag this as malware.

The fact that these plugins do this in the name of security is an outrageous and antiquated practice. This “feature” should not even be there in the first place… I could go on but I wont… Sorry for the rant. ??

Anyways. If you can add WPB2D to an ignore list of some sort then you are good to go.

    Cheers,
    Mikey

Thanks Mike. After I uninstalled and re-installed your plug-in, the issue disappeared. Yes, Wordfence does have an ignore list. Will do that in future.
