    Hello
I bought the love travel theme (from theme forest) with the WPBakery Visual Composer and I have more than 40 pages built with this plugin.
Recently it does not work in Backend editor (when I klick Backend editor it shows nothing but classic editor shows all the code and everything on the page)

WPBakery Visual Composer Version 4.11.2.1 (there is no announcement for updating)
Wordpress Version 5.3.2 updated to 5.4 (the problem still remains)
    PHP Version 7.3
I disabled all other plugins and nothin changed (there is no conflict)
Role manager is enabled for users

    Thank you

  • Hi,
i think WPBakery Page Builder 6.2 is not compatible with wordpress version 5.4.2,
because we are trying to open back end editor but not able to do it.

    Thank you @bgc2020
I am using Chrome and I also test Microsoft Edge and Firefox but nothing changed.

Hello, Its not the browser doing. It is the “ccode.php”. But before hand make sure u have legit theme with the plugins. I mean not nulled ones. Go to hosting from the root directory save the “ccode.php” then Delete the “custom codes” plugin from your wordpress which your host sees it as a plugin not the file “ccode.php”. Then from your root directory plugins folder add the “ccode.php”.

Make sure u update the wordpress either from wordpress or root directory too.

If it is still won’t work then u have to update the “ccode.php”. To be honest I don’t know how to update it but I have so many websites so I just copied from another websites root directory.

I had the same issue and couldn’t find the answer. Until I just happened to notice the WPBakery backend editor was moved to the right hand sidebar in the page editor window. All I had to do was drag it back to the middle. Hope this helps someone.

I have the same issue, backend editor is not working anymore.
When downgrading to WordPress 5.4.2 everything is working fine again, so it seems like a WordPress compatibility issue?

    Had the same issue.
    *****************
    This fix works.
    Install the WP Downgrade plugin
    Open the plugin settings
    Enter 5.4.2 and downgrade
It will ask for core update.
    Go to core update.
It will ask if you want to reinstall 5.4.2
    And click re-install now.
    It works.
    Good luck

    Worked like a charm

    thank you so much.

    @hassancortex Lifesaver
I cannot believe that wildly popular plugins like WPBakery can have such incompatibilities with later versions of WordPress…
    It is outrageous …

This is very frustrating. Downgrade doesn’t seem to work either.

I unmark all screen options and just leave marked WP Bakery and show up down there but it need to create all page again.

@hassancortex Thanks. This works. I think only this solution works: downgrading WP version.
