I know this is going to sound silly, but have you contacted your hosting provider as the notice states?

Yes I have been in touch with them. They could not immediately find something that could explain the behaviour.

I have also done the steps as explained in this related topic.

Unfortunately to no avail. I also get a normal response back from the wp_remote_post function as I would expect.

Unfortunately still no luck, the host provider cannot see anything wrong and has not seen this report before in other customers. Any ideas?

Not sure what happened, but it has been fixed by itself while I was finishing up the website.
