wp_redirection plugin causing database to exceed 2GB
-
Will there be any problems if I delete wp_redirection_404 and wp_redirection_logs ? What might be lost? What causes such large files?
My hosting is scheduling a deletion of my database for exceeding 2.9GB — they say these two database tables are the cause of the problem.
Update: I was looking around the Redirection plugin — there are over 4,227,487 items in the 404s section and 5,142,793 items in the wp_redirection_logs. Holy molly!
We are not able to recommend specific content remove as this will be unique to your website. If this site was created for you by someone else I would recommend contacting the developer in question for further assistance. Otherwise, I would recommend turning to the support forums at www.remarpro.com for help better understanding the structure of the database for your WordPress and determining what content can be safely removed.
It appears that the tables with the most content are wp_redirection_404 and wp_redirection_logs, so I would recommend starting your investigation there. Each of these tables are currently large enough to exceed the database size limit on their own. It appears that these may be related to the Redirection plugin you have enabled currently, so you may also want to contact the developer of this plugin for help determining what content can be removed from these tables.
