• my site has gone down and my hosting company which are not the best to be honest as i have nothing but problems with them has said my site is down due to wp_options table is corrupt. they asked if i had made any changes to the file or serious changes besides posts to the site. i explained that i have not.

they are telling me that they cannot fix the problem and i need to get a developer. this is very strange. the site was fine an hour agao. i have had lots of problems with the hosting company and wished i could find one that offers a similar but better service at a cheaper price, as i keep on getting told i am over paying.

can anyone offer me advice on what i should do with this wp being corupt

Usually, it’s because the MySQL server crashes. That’s on the hosting company. However, you do have to realize the bad things happen from time to time.

Keep backups of your site, automatically, and stored other than on your host. I use backwpup to backup sites to dropbox early in the AM on Sundays.

this is a reply i just got back from them. i should have moved my site a long time ago as they receive lots of complaints and come up with excuses. the site is always going down. friends of mine who had sites with them moved because their sites were going down on a weekly basis, and sometimes daily.

Please note that in the wp_options table are stored various information regarding your website and it could get corrupted by various reasons.

A WordPress update did not go properly and it was not finalized. Some of the plugins or the theme of the website could have caused this.

Currently, we are not able to determine exactly what has caused the corruption of the database table hence we have recommended contacting an experienced database specialist so they could provide you with more information on the matter.

Were you able to repair the table? What’s going on with your host is between the two of you.

if the table cannot be repaired, you need to find a backup of your database. Do you or your host have one?

i asked and they said the following As we have stated we are not able to repair the database using the MySQL repair service hence we have recommended contacting an experienced database specialist.

they have said the back up that they have is too old

This *may* work, or it may not. From PHPMYADMIN, export wp_options, then re-import it. If that doesn’t work, you might be able to find someone well versed in database stuff to manually fix it. If not, your site is toast.
