wp_list_pages hierarchical parameter – inline or indented ?

The hierarchical parameter (indented or inline) does not seem to make any difference in wp_list_pages or am I missing something?

I want a list pages where the subpages are listed AFTER the sibling pages (for easy styling of multi-level horizontal tab file folder like menus, that can cope with resized screens etc) and wondered whether this would do it, but in testing I cannot see a difference in the code generated.

Am resorting to developing own widget to do this, but wondered whether I was wasting my time!
