wp_insert_post and referal links

  • Hi,

    Ive setup a script which scrapes some data from a different site and then uses wp_insert_post to post it to mine with an added referral link to each post.

    My problem is that when I use wp_insert_post it automatically visits my referral link for some reason and its giving me false clickthrough stats on the refferal site.

    Any ideas how I can stop it ?

    My best guess is that your site is pinging the referral links because you have it enabled in your discussion settings. You can disable this functionality in the Settings > Discussion menu in your Dashboard. Just make sure the checkbox labeled ‘Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article’ is unchecked.
