Good to know that you were able to narrow down to Event Calendar as the culprit.
I had spoken directly with the authors and they told me the plugin is abandoned and should not be installed.
Yes, on the plugin page notice has been put up that the plugin is no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues. It is best to avoid such plugins. I understand that you had already purchased its premium version before.
