I have several WordPress blogs all hosted by HostPapa. Since upgrading to 4.4.2 I have had numerous issues with two of the blogs. The issues are different for each blog so I am restricting this post to one of them.

In sum, I can log on to the admin area but when I do so, I can’t see anything more than the front end plus menu bar. When I try to click on menu bar items (it is not a complete menu) I cannot get into the admin back end.

I have reinstalled numerous times (I backed up the DB before I did anything else) being careful to re-install all themes and plugins that were present before.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Self resolved by reinstalling and only importing selected tables from backed up database.
