• I am running an english WP3 on a Debian-Server, Upgrade from WP2.9.2 worked like a charm. Dev-Team did a good job.

Almost every time my Mac is waking up and the Firefox-tab with my Dashboard is still open (not closed before Mac is going to sleep), the new Update-Info on WP3 Dashboard-Menu-Section is showing me at least one available update. But if I click on this, there is no Update. To verify Firefox is not causing this, I’ve tried Safari unfortunately with the same result. Cache was wiped, PlugIns were temporary disabled for testing … funny thing, isn’t it?

Download WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of the /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ directories with fresh copies from the download.

Thanks for your reply, did this already for the Upgrade. Are you assuming the recent fresh Upload ended in a specific damaged file? As far as I understand the Updatewarner, it is checking a single version file, that’s all. But I am doing this again, there is nothing to loose.

Yes, I believe so. You certainly wouldn’t be the first.

There are only a few files directly involved in checking for updates, but each of these files rely on other files, so hunting for a specific damaged file would be like finding a needle in a haystack. On the other hand, replacing the /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ directories with fresh copies will only take a minute.

But I am doing this again, there is nothing to loose.

You’ll be fine as long as you only replace the /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ directories.

Thank you again for your reply, much appreciated.

I’ve done the Upload again with fresh downloaded WP3, but the glitch is still there. On a different Server I was mirroring my blog. Surprisingly the glitch occurs again, randomly but not that often.

Whatever there is going on, we should keep it as it is. It is not that bothering to me and I don’t see any kind of a possible reason for this. Actually I just want to list this issue here, if anybody else is having same issue, so maybe WP-Dev-Team can dig into later. ??

    hi there,
i too have the same problem on 2 blogs, on one the upgrade went flawlessly an i still have available updates ; the over one was a nightmare to upgrade, the automatic way was taking forever it tried twice with no results so i did the manual upgrade and it keeps bugging me about update.

Maybe something new in this topic, try to minimize/fold the Admin-Menu-Bar on the backend. Once I am doing this, the glitch doesn’t occur even after expanding/unfolding the menue again.

update: It happens less often with the folded menue.
