WP2.0 not sending Trackbacks

  • For some reason when I create a new post (https://www.mostlymuppet.com/) and I list trackback URLs, they never seem to be sent, they just stay in the form field.

    I’ve ticked the “Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article” under Options >>> Discussion, but that doesn’t seem to work.

  • I am having the same problem, but that item you ticked will send pingbacks not trackbacks

    I’m not happy with just sending pingbacks. Is there some other option I’m missing here?

    No, something is definetely wrong, I send trackbacks all the time, and now they don’t work in 2.0

    Well that sucks. We can’t be the only two people experiencing this problem. Have you submitted a ticket to the WordPress dev team?

    Mine doesn’t work either. I wish I hadn’t upgraded.
    THere are other threads on this–try searching on “trackback”.

    I solved it by going back to 1.5

    It may have been discussed in that thread, but nothing has been solved. I am currently using a a manual trackback page, and this isn’t going to last long, before I go back to 1.5.2. Although I am going to have to figure out how without loosing anything from the database.

    I cannot recommend any of the blogs I administer upgrade. You would think with all the bug checking done with 2.0 someone would have tested this feature before its release.

    Besides some minor benefit of the WYSIWYG editor I don’t see any real improvements. Actually since I have customized the old editor, I still have to do a bit of work on the new editor to even make it as functional.

    They say it posts faster, but it doesn’t. They say it loads faster, but it doesn’t. Now trackbacks don’t work either.

    I appreciate wordpress, but I think they dropped the ball on this one.

    There’s a bugtrac ticket/thread which offers some solutions. I’ll let you know if any of them work for me.

    This worked:

    I added the following:

    require_once(‘execute-pings.php’);
    execute_all_pings();

    before these last two lines at the end of post.php

    include(‘admin-footer.php’);
    ?>

    I just tried that myself, but it didn’t work – at least not on a post that had been created before. Does post.php only run when you publish new entries? If so, should the same two lines be added to some other file, e.g., edit.php?

    My ping backs didn’t work too. Any idea?
