• Having a problem here I can’t find a solution to on the forum.

    Basically, on my index.php template I’m calling up the archive links with this:
    <?php wp_get_archives('type=monthly&show_post_count=1'); ?>
    The link shows up fine but when you click said link you get an error saying it doens’t exist. The link is makes is https://site.com/07/2005/ – mod_rewrite & permalinks work perfectly on the rest of my site but not with the archives. Anybody help me out? My page is https://hobonation.com/

    edit: by the way my permalink structure is /%monthnum%/%day%/%year%/%postname%.htm – Could this have anything to do with it?

  • It’s your structure…. for the archives, there’s no day part, so I gets left out….. leaving your month/year…. but then it thinks that the year part is the day because it’s in the day position. Normaly people set their stucture up to go year / month / day / post title. From largest to smallest. That way, /2005 will be all of 2005. and /2005 / 07 is July 2005, and /2005/07/04 is July 4, 2005.

    Thanks Gnome, I wasn’t thinking about that at all when I setup the structure, but now I know, and its fixed.

    Also, do you or anyone else know anything about using an extension in your permalink structure, I’ve heard somewhere that putting .htm or .html on the end of your permalinks somehow makes search engines like your site more.

    I seriously doubt that search engines care.
