• I have a site I’ve taken my eyes off for a few months and went to get it all up to date.

It’s running 3.9.2 but the update core page (https://www.arborcura.com/wp-admin/update-core.php) is not prompting me to update to latest version 4.2

    Why would this be?

I’ve installed this and it passes all the tests OK. So I’m a bit stumped.

I have just noticed that I’m also unable to add a new user or create a new post, so it seems there’s an issue writing to the database. I’m also unable to delete comment_meta by running the relevant sql query in phpmyadmin. But I am able to edit change existing content.

Any suggestions as where I might focus my attentions?

  • Might seem far-fetched, but you do confirm you installed the site yourself, and have a full-access admin accounts, with all WP features available ?
Did you customize your functions.php file ?

As it seems you used PHPMyAdmin or an equivalent, what was the output or error message from your mysql query ?
Do you have a hosting account console, and are all the limits in there ok – no over-quota alert ?
