I am trying to post this article (see below) on my blog and it gives me a 404 page everytime I press the publish button. What could possibly be wrong? Does wordpress block certain words from being posted. If yes how to resolve this issue?

Banks are not the only source of debt capital. Other sources include friends, relatives, independent investors firms and factoring firms that provide cash against receivables and other assets. There are pros and cons to doing business with all of these sources of debt.

Borrowing from friends and relatives can be relatively easy because they are more likely to believe that you’ll repay them, and more likely to forgive you if you can’t. However, if you are not able to repay your friends or relatives, you may find that you have spoiled an important relationship. This loss of a relationship can be much more painful than having a bad credit rating.

Independent investors are often willing to invest, particularly if they like your business model and are able to also get an equity stake. You may want to structure such an investment as convertible preferred stock, which provides both a coupon (interest) as well as the option to convert to common equity at a predefined conversion ration (e.g. one common share for each preferred share).

A non-bank finance company can also be a source of debt for an entrepreneur. Purchase-order financing companies provide funds to companies that sell import goods and distribute them locally. It is a relatively new line of business — about 20 years old — and a variation on the old and much larger business of factoring, in which a company sells an invoice at a discount to get immediate cash.

Purchase-order financing, though similar to factoring, focuses on purchase orders rather than invoices. Purchase orders are written guarantees from a buyer that it is committed to purchasing a product. By financing purchase orders, the finance company pays the factory to manufacture the goods and to have the finished products shipped from the factory. Once the finance company is paid for the goods, it takes a cut and transfers the rest to its customer.

    PLS HELP!!!

Try decativating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

I can post your text no problem, if there’s an issue with posting the text it’s not a limitation/restriction within WordPress.

As suggested above, test without plugins enabled.

Beyond that, could be something getting flagged by mod sec (mod security – the host will know what this is) if you host has that running on their servers (just to throw another idea in).

However i’d ask if you’re pasting that text from another app, it may not be the text that’s the problem but unwanted characters or markup introduced by programs like MS word.

Are you pasting from another program?

No, I am not pasting it from another app/MS-Word. I wrote it on Notepad and that should not put any characters or markup.

Moreover, the only plugins that I am using on WP 3.0 are All In One SEO Pack, HTML on Pages, Google XML Sitemaps. I tried deactivating all plugins and still not being able to post this text.

Were you able to post the whole text or only part of it?

I can post the whole text.

Did you by any chance publish without a title? Because it gives me a 404 error when I do that.

Were you able to post the whole text or only part of it?

I can post all the text no problem.

I still seem to have this problem… anyway, thanks a lot for helping!

Well if you can give me steps to reproduce the problem i’ll happily do what i can to help, but thus far pasting the text into a post and publishing is no problem, so without a means to replicate the problem i’m at a loss on what to advise.

    Thinking out loud now:

Tried another browser? Another computer? Another user account?

Tried switching theme? Theme’s can run any code a plugin can (so just as likely to be a cause of a problem).

Tried pasting in portions at a time (save between pasting each bits)? Do problems occur when pasting a particular part?

Each of the abvoe should be relatively easy to test, if none of the above makes any difference we’ve at least narrowed down possible causes.

    Hello…

I’m also having problems posting. This is text I’m trying to post (with the title “Printing Half Size or Full Size”:

    ——start——
We are often required to print HALF SIZE (on 12×18 paper) or make small check prints (on 11×17 paper) of the full size sheet that we’re working on. This post discusses how to do that.

    HALF SIZE:

In the sheet that you’re working on, click on “File” –> “Printer Setup”
A box will pop up. Select the printer (Format for) – HP LaserJet 5200
    Select Paper Size – 12×18
Select the Landscape view of the drawing for Horizontal orientation
    Scale – 50%
    Hit OK, print.

    TABLOID:

    Same as above but,
Select Paper Size – Tabloid (11×17)
    Scale – 45%
    Hit OK, print.
The drawing will not be to scale but when printing to double check your own work, this size is preferred as it’s less expensive than the custom 12×18 paper.

    FULL SIZE:

In the sheet that you’re working on, click on “File” –> “Printer Setup”
A box will pop up. Select the printer (Format for) – HP DesignJet T1100ps
    Select Paper Size – Arch D 24×36
Select the Landscape view of the drawing for Horizontal orientation
    Scale – 100%
    Hit OK, print.

    HISTORY:

In our older drawings and former sheet organization/setup, the drawing annotations (ie. notes/symbols/dims) were part of the ‘Design Layer’ of the file. This way of organization allowed for ‘Sheet Layers’ named 100% and 50% which had the drawing information scaled to print full size (100%) or half size (50%). These were identical sheets except that their printer setups were different.*

As we currently try to shift our drawing annotations organization from the Design Layer to the ‘Annotations Layer’ of the ‘Viewport’, we also have to shift from our former system of 100% and 50% sheet setups. We’ll be doing away 100% and 50% to named sheet setups (A1.01, A2.01, etc…) and will be printing from the named sheets using the Printer Setup to change where we print to.

    ———–end———–

Running Mac OSX 10.5.8… I’ve tried logging in using different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) All my plugins have been deactivated. When I try to post, it’s telling me that I don’t have access to my server.

However, I can post shorter texts, as well as make changes to the themes and all other functionality. I’ve searched the forums for restrictions on post length, and found some code to place in my wp_config file but that didn’t seem to make a difference. I still cannot post the above text. Perhaps it’s the symbols in the text that’s giving me problems?

(And as a side note, when I try to edit the post text, or make a new post, the text in the editing box is showing up white on a white background.) I’m currently working around this by disabling the visual editor.

Can somebody please help? Has anyone encountered this prob?

    Thanks!

    Nevermind about the posting problems…

I just called my web host and it turns out it was their mod security.

    Thanks!

But still having probs with the white text on white background…

Glad to hear you sorted out the main problem with your host. In regard to the white on white text, does switching theme make a difference?

I’d guess something in your theme’s stylesheet sets the text colour for textareas to white (or maybe there’s other conflicting CSS definition).

    Can you confirm?

I can write you a work around if it’s a theme issue, but i’ll need a link to the site, so i can examine the existing CSS.

I have simillar problem, cant post longer articles and getting 404. Could you please explain what your webhost did? How mod security prevented this.
    Thanks

I just had the same problem. It showed up on one site, and I did backflips trying to work around it. Nothing worked.

Then it popped up on two other sites — both with the same host — and I got to thinking it was a problem on the host’s end. One tech support call later, I found out I was right.

I don’t understand a lot of server speak, but for those who might find it useful, here’s the lingo from the fix ticket my agent submitted:

Call Issue Description: Having issue posting to WordPress sites. Need to submit ticket for SRX routing exclusion. Our Intrusion Detection Product looks for activity that could be considered malicious. Some remote updates/posts via a CMS can simulate a SQL injection attack (the product also looks for keywords that could be part of a query such as Select, From).

I have run into the same trouble & there is one article that I still can’t post. It gets stuck at from. “From the” seems to be words that the post gets stuck on. Is there some keywords that WordPress gets stuck on or is it someplace else? Are you saying it has something to do with the Web Host? I really don’t understand what the problem is, so if someone could help me that would be great!

    Please post a new topic.
