WP Updates no longer showing progress

All the WordPress sites recently have stopped showing progress on updates. I click on ‘update all’, it takes me to the FTP credentials screen where I fill in the info, hit ‘Proceed’ and it just sits there on that screen for ages (depending on the amount being updated), and then flicks to the ‘successfully updated’ screen. I used to get each plugin coming up one after another saying ‘installing…’ etc. Does anyone know what could cause this to happen. It seems to be server-wide? Thanks in advance.
