    Hi,

The other day I received an email saying my WP (self-hosted on Cloudways) install was updated to version 5.4.4. This is very odd since we are running WP 5.5.3 and no downgrade has happened.

    The email contents was this:

Howdy! Your site at https://localhost:10188 has been updated automatically to WordPress 5.4.4.

For more on version 5.4.4, see the About WordPress screen:
    https://localhost:10188/wp-admin/about.php

WordPress 5.5.3 is also now available. Updating is easy and only takes a few moments:

One more odd issue is that the Apache port number is completely wrong. It is running on 8081 behind nginx which is running on port 80. Nothing on this server is running on port 10881.

Any idea what this can be?

Also, if this email indeed was from my local WP installation, should it not contain the proper domain name and not localhost.

I’m a little concerned this might be indicative of a hack or so but I’m not sure how to debug this further. Any ideas?
