WP Total Cache Broke my Website/wp-admin

    Help! I tried to install W3 Total Cache plugin and got some kind of error message. Furthermore, my website crashed and returned a 505 error. I deactivated and deleted W3 Total Cache and my website came back alive.

    But then I logged off of wp-admin and when I tried to log back in again I only got these three lines of error message. I’m totally locked out of wp-admin.

    Advice?

    W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/enthalpx/culturedoak.com/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.
    W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/enthalpx/culturedoak.com/wp-content/db.php.

    I am sorry to hear about the issues that you are facing. Most likely something when wrong during the installation and the plugin was not properly installed. Using FTP, file manager or whatever method are you using to connect to your website files, please go to the “wp-content” directory, and look for the following files:

    w3-total-cache-config.php
    db.php
    Advanced-cache.php
    Cache

    Before you remove them, we strongly recommend backing them up somewhere, just in case. They should be completely safe to delete, but we always like to advise on backing up before making any changes to a live site.

    Once you’ve backed up the files locally, delete them.

    In the same folder, look for these two directories:
    w3tc-config

    Once everything is removed you should be able to re-install the plugin without any issues.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response. But I have no idea how to do any of that. I am a neophyte at wordpress. I’ve been accessing my files by typing my website.com/wp-admin into the browser, and after login, it takes me right to my dashboard. How do I access these files to delete them?

    OK, never mind. I got myself a copy of WordPress for Dummies (that’s me!) and figured out how to perform the steps you described through cPanel. What you described worked. Thanks for your help!
