• Hey there,

I’m new to WordPress, and I need some help. I’m trying to redesign my campus TV studio website (our current site: https://www.nuch1.com). Right now, our goal is to be like the Hulu of our school. We’ll have all media created by students on campus (short films too). For the redesign, I want to make the site more like https://www.channel5.com. It’s a really well designed site and is what we’d want our site to look and function like. We especially like the layout of their pages for individual shows (for example: https://www.channel5.com/shows/fifth-gear).

At the top of their home page, they have several links (Demand5, Shows, Schedule) and then a search bar. We’re planning on having Live (where we’ll begin streaming our content live), TV, Film, Partners and also a search bar. The partners page is going to be a bit complex and is something we’ll implement in the future.

Here are some MUST HAVE features we’re looking for:

~New serial shows can create an account and provide info on their show:

-pictures for the show page (banners, main graphics, promotional pictures, etc)
    -show synopsis
    -character bios
    -main cast/crew bios

~Currently running serial shows can log in and upload their episode to our youtube account and then they need to provide screenshots, a synopsis, and episode cast and crew info.
~Students that created a short film can create an account and provide info on their film (pictures, synopsis, character bios, and cast/crew bios)

    Future nice to have features:

      ~IMDB like interface

-can click on a person in a cast/crew list and go to their IMDB-like page
-students can edit their own page to add resumes, outside projects, links, reels, pictures, etc.

~A forum-like bulletin board where shows/films can post accouncements for casting, calls for props, individuals can advertise their skills, etc.

Although I’m pretty competent with HTML and CSS, I can’t guarantee that my successor will be, which is why I’m moving the site to the WordPress CMS. Also, managing this all without a CMS is a huge pain.

So how difficult would it be to implement somethigng like this on WP? I know there aren’t any themes that do everything we want, but are there any that may give us a good starting base? Is WP even the right CMS for a site like this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
