    Hi David,

    thanks for your post.

I’m not really sure why this happens, but it seems that for some reason, the JavaScript files for DataTables is not included in the page HTML code, while the loading call is.
It might have been stripped by W3 Total Cache, e.g. if you use script minification and concatenation. Can you check that?

    Hi Tobias

You were absolutely right with the W3 Total Cache plugin… I unchecked the ‘enable’ boxes in the minify settings for ‘HTML & XML’, ‘JS’ and ‘CSS’ and now it works just fine again ??

So, thanks again and keep up the good work!

    Hi Tobias,

I love your plugin and we have been using it successfully for our bibliography “Humboldt Digital” at https://www.avhumboldt.de/?page_id=469

Recently, the search and filtering function disappeared. I searched the forum, found this topic, but couldn’t manage to resolve the problem. I use WP 3.1 with the plugins

    – Ajax Edit Comments
    – Akismet
    – Embedded Video
    – Event Calendar
    – Event Calendar Widget
    – FD Footnotes
    – Feedstats
    – Google XML Sitemaps
    – Jetpack by WP
    – MailPress
    – NextGEN Gallery
    – Paginator
    – Post-Plugin Library
    – Recent Comments
    – Search Regex
    – Simple Tags
    – Subscribe to comments
    – WP.com Popular Posts
    – WP Database backup
    – WP Related Posts
    – WP-Cumulus
    – WP-Print
    – WP-Table Reloaded (of course)

Do you know of compatibility issues with any of these plugins that might have caused the search and filter functions to disappear?

Thanks a lot for any help und nochmal vielen Dank für das super Plugin.

    Grü?e aus Berlin,

    Tobias

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

The problem seems to be the “Ajax Edit Comments” plugin. In one of its JavaScript files, it calls a jQuery function, which does not exist. This causes the search/filter function to break as well.

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

fantastic, that’s it. I just deactivated the Ajax plug-in and all works well. Vielen Dank!

    Hi Tobias

I am back again, because the same problem keeps appearing again… I did the same as I did a month ago, just this time the search/filterung function doesn’t appear again. Any suggestion from the crack? ??

    Hi,

this time, it seems to be a different reason: Your theme uses the “Tipsy” jQuery script can’t find it, and due to that, the JavaScript breaks.
I’m not really sure why this happens though, as the file seems to be there…

    Regards,
    Tobias

The problem really was the Tipsy-Plugin (this is the page where I found it: https://onehackoranother.com/projects/jquery/tipsy/.

Just remove the lines which cause the problem and it will work again ??
