• Back in December my website overloaded the shared server I was using through a host company. As a result my host company requested that I install a specific caching plugin. Two weeks ago when I went to make some adjustments in my theme for the first time since installing the caching plugin, the plugin corrupted my entire websites layout. It was a mess. I needed to delete the plug-n. My backup and restore provider told me to install WP Super Cache. Which I did

Today, my site overloaded the shared server again. My site is not a huge site and doesn’t need its own server, but something happened through the use of WP Super Cache that didn’t happen with the caching plug-in I used before. What setting can I use on Super Cache to prevent this from happening?

    Thank you!

  • Hi pasqualerose

I can confirm this plugin caused the same issues in a friend’s website using WordPress version 4.2.3 and plugin version 1.4.4. After deactivating and removing this plugin the website did return the normal operation thankfully. However after changing to php version 5.5 in GoDaddy hosting panel and activating again it appears to work ok but just slows the site down.

For anyone else experiencing issues Google wordpress wp super cache overloaded and also look at the web host you are using. My friend uses GoDaddy, it always has problems with slowness however changing PHP version to 5.5 and clicking Current then Save also helped a lot.

    Thanks Ricniven.

I now use WP Fastest Cache for caching and WordFence for security and have not had a problem in months.
