WP SMTP Mail not working with Wordfence

    I manage over 20 sites (with WP Mail SMTP installed) on different hosting servers, at different large hosting companies. They all have timely updates, everything is under control. Since installing Wordfence, I’ve had the following issue:
    every few days I find an error in the admin interface bar (see screenshot attached). I open the error and see that the error is coming from Wordfence (see the screenshot attached). I look in the “error event” and see the same message in the log (see the screenshot attached).
    The idea is that this line is always displayed (/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php (line: 7161)). (see screenshot attached). Can you check what this is about?
    I’ve searched the internet before and there are a lot of complaints about exactly the same issue.

    Thanks for reaching out. Do you get the same error when sending a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Tools > Email Test? If you get any errors, please share a full error log. Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log.

    In the meantime, if you’re adding the SMTP settings in wp-config.php with constants, make sure they’re placed above the line that reads:

    /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */

    Usually, when the SMTP settings are misplaced in wp-config.php, you can see such errors when emails are sent from Wordfence.

    I don’t get any errors when I send test email to any of the 23 sites I manage.

    I will also try with the lines proposed by you for wp-config.php.
    Don’t close the topic, I’ll come back with feedback no matter the results.
