I have resurrected an older blog and re-homed it on a new host and restored from an Updraft backup. All looks fine except many images do not appear when Jetpack’s Enable site accelerator is selected. It seems random to which are served up and those that are not. I cannot see an option to force a re-scan of the site.

I’ve tried reinstalling Jetpack, using a no-plugins and basic template option and run health checks with no results. If Enable site accelerator is switched off images appear as normal throughout.

Many images are linked to from other forums and social media sites so those connecting to the CDN do not show up.

Anyone able to shed light on this one please?

    Hi @jimboba2011

I ran some tests on your site, and it seems that although your domain has a valid SSL certificate, it is still possible to access your site via HTTP. Your visitors and search engines can use either HTTP or HTTPS to access your site.

This is an issue for search engines, since it often causes confusion and duplicate content, but it is also an issue for your site’s communication with Jetpack, as our system does not know whether it should connect to your site via one or the other address.

To solve this issue, I would recommend that you change your site’s URL to HTTPS (you can do so under Settings > General in your dashboard), and then ask your host for help redirecting all traffic from HTTP to HTTPS.

You may also be able to use a plugin such as Really Simple SSL to do this for you.

Once that’s done, try to reconnect your site to Jetpack once again; that should solve your issue.

Thank you for the feedback Bruce. Unfortunately after following your suggestions (using the Really Simple SSL route) and disconnecting and reconnecting JP I am still experiencing the same failed image loading from the CDN servers as previous when activating the accelerator.

I have left this active at the moment in case any other discrepancies can be seen at warchest.co.uk regards the non-cached images…

Can you give us an example of a specific image? Where can we see that image on the site?

It had been a week since I heard any feedback after activating Image accelerator which breaks the site so I switched it back off. I’ve now put it back on and the missing images can be seen throughout. Here is a link to one page missing quite a few.

    Thanks for looking.

I’ve left my site in a ‘broken’ state for nearly 6 days so that the errors can be seen in the hope that someone can help with the above image issue.

So bumping this message in hope.

    Hi @jimboba2011

Thanks for your patience about that. I’ve checked your website and noticed you had disabled Site Accelerator, to not break the images further.

I can still see that your website isn’t forcing SSL, as it’s loading through both HTTP and HTTPS. My suggestion is to edit the WordPress settings from your dashboard, to reflect only HTTPS:

Let us know if the issue persists after that.
