WP Site Automatically Updated to 5.8.4 ?!?

  • I updated to 5.9.3 yesterday and was having some plug-in fatal errors. Deactivated some plug-ins but unable to reactivate others. Emailed my host who suggested going back to 5.9.2 which I did (but did not resolve all the issues). Had decided to take the night off troubleshooting, but just got an email from WP saying that my site had been automatically “updated” to 5.8.4. I do not understand this at all.

  • Could you check if the email actually comes from this website? The sender’s domain should be clearly identifiable. It is possible that the e-mail did not come from this WordPress installation.

    What is the status of the WordPress installation after the e-mail? Still 5.9.2?

    Thanks so much for your response. Just checked and the email did come from wordpress@mydomain.

    The only thing I can think of is that because of a plug-in conflict I contacted my host, who suggested they roll me back to 5.9.2 and see if that helped. How I got rolled all the way back to 5.8.4 I am not sure, as it happened hours after I was on the phone with the host.

    This morning I updated to 5.9.3 and everything seems normal, but I wish I knew how/why this happened!
