WP-Short Stat doesn’t close HTTP connection

I’m having a problem with the WP-ShortStat plugin, and I’ve talked to a few other WordPress users who have had the same issue. When the plugin is activated, the HTTP connection isn’t closed when trying to access your sites feeds.

When trying to access the RSS2 feed on my site, the full XML file is sent including the final </RSS> tag, however the HTTP connection is never closed, which causing a timeout for certain feed-readers and browsers.
