I just installed the WP Security Scan plugin, and had it change my table prefixes.

After I did this, I can no longer access wordpress (so I can’t correct my problem where it was caused) or my website!!

I get the following message when I visit my website URL, and when I visit the WP login:

ERROR: $table_prefix in wp-config.php can only contain numbers, letters, and underscores.

    !!!!HELP!!!!!!!!

Do you have CPanel access? You will need it (or some other backend access) to solve the problem.

Once you log in, you need to see exactly what you changed the tablename to by getting into your MySQL Admin. Once you see what you changed it to, you can then look in your wp-config.php file via ftp to verify that it matches. If you used a special character you will have to go through the process of renaming the tables manually to something else and then manually change the wp-config.php file to match the new prefix.

OMG, I thought my site was done for.

What you said led me to search for detailed steps, and I found this solution: https://tdot-blog.com/wordpress/6-simple-steps-to-change-your-table-prefix-in-wordpress

Fixed what I did manually! YAY!

Thanks Ben!! (I wouldn’t have known to search for that if it wasn’t for your response.)
