WP-PostViews and WP Super Cache

If I set “Use AJAX To Update Views” to “Yes”, it stops working even w/o WP cache (perhaps there is a JS conflict).

Your WP Super Cache might be caching the static html but the views itself is being counted. It is only after the html expires then the view will be updated.

Nope, the “views” custom filed is always 0.

No, just a single one.

How about the AJAX part, does it have an AJAX call to update the views? Because I don’t use SuperCache myself (I am using W3TC), I can’t really test it.

I will leave this unresolved to see if there is any person facing the same thing. I recalled people using SuperCache and it works fine for them.

It stopped working to me after one of updates. Can’t say when exactly it has happened.

Hmm from the changelog at https://github.com/lesterchan/wp-postviews, I can only guess that “NEW: Allow user to not use AJAX to update the views even though WP_CACHE is true” might be the problem, but since it is Yes for you, i guess it is not it.

You still haven’t answered my question regarding the AJAX, when you visit a single post page, does it have an AJAX call to update the views? You can check your console of your browser for it.

It has happened long before that option was added. Maybe a year of a half ago.

Sorry for jumping in, I’m investigating compatibility on this plugin with quick cache and couldn’t find the AJAX setting as mentioned in the 1.67. Github page shows 1.68 stable tag, are you gonna push it to wp repository soon?

It will only show WP_CACHE is set and is true in wp-config.php

Just go to Settings –> WP Super Cache –> Advanced and disallow “Cache hits to this website for quick access. (Recommended)”

This is not smart. If you disallow it you disable caching at all (you will switch Super Cache OFF). Try to do this and then delete all cache, then refresh home page and press Ctr-U. You will that cache doesn’t work.

“Cache hits to this website for quick access” = “Caching On (Recommended)” on Easy page
