wp-People

  • I have finished my first hack and have it ready for the world to view.
    wp-People is a hack that will replace people’s names with a link to a pop-up bio information screen. (1.0+ Compatible)

    What version on WP are you using and what other modifications have you done?

    1.0.1. The only modification I’ve made is to add sitemeter code to index.php.

    I loaded 1.2.
    Here’s this issue, they removed a couple of filters, so you will get an error right off. You can got to my forum and see where to fix the code.
    Because of the removed filters and how they do the filters now, it looks like wp-people will have some missing functionlity in 1.2. I am working on getting it fixed. You can still use my-hacks in 1.2 and everything will be the same, if you make the small fix mentioned above.
    EXCEPT! Now I have to figure out a different way to add a menu item for wp-people to the administration screen, because they removed the text file that used to do that.
    So, I am working on a couple of things and will announce the update when it is ready.

    I’m 80% of the way thru updating WP-People to work with WP[1.5].

    Basically, everything is working:
    WP-People can be loaded a plug-in
    Uses content filter in WP-People popup window
    Uses Kubric Theme for layout in WP-People popup window
    Figured out how to add menu item to admin screen
    Admin for WP-People uses admin style information

    I need to improve the Theme usage and update the documentation for installing. I will probably want some people to test it out when I’m done with that.

    do you have a version of wp-people that works with WP version 1.2.2 yet? i noticed all of them can only be used with 1.5. keep us updated. ??

    I’m a little cautious as far as upgrading yet…don’t quite want to get in over my head yet.

    Sorry, I don’t think the 1.5 version will work with 1.2.2.
    They both use plug-ins, but there are changes to the admin menus and the style sheets.

    I didn’t have any major problems upgrading to 1.5. However, I did delete all of my HTML files, except the config, and load the 1.5 files so it was almost a fresh install.
