I was using the original Orbit slider and was searching for a way to find how to use it in WordPress and finally did. Thanks so much for the great plugin! I love this slider!

I have tested it in the latest versions of FF, Chrome and Safari and all features of it work great, however, in IE9 the slider doesn’t seem to work for me at all. IE9 just shows the loading time animation and left and right arrows.

Do you have any ideas how to fix the IE9 version?

Here is my screen shot of how it looks in IE9 for the new theme I am developing for my production site. I am currently developing the theme on my local host using the latest version of WordPress.

Thanks in advance to any help offered and please let me know if I need to provide any other information.

Hey, happy you have found the plugin useful.
I’m unable to test ie9 right now.
This may be a limitation to the jQuery slider itself. This version is the experimental ‘responsive’ version of the slider.

Thinking out loud… you could maybe try one of the advanced settings
“Load JS when DOC ready or WINDOW load” set to “window load”.

I did a quick google search and someone suggested changing the doc type when they had a problem with ie9
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "https://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

I’ll look into it and post back asap.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for the quick response, Jonny.

I have tried both of these solutions to no avail. Perhaps some other script I have installed is conflicting with the slider… Just a guess.

In IE9, the slider images appear to load and then quickly minimize to the white blank box pictured in the screen shot.

If no fix is currently available, I can probably just use a conditional statement to eliminate the slider in IE, as it is not absolutely necessary for the site, but boy does it look nice! Oh, how I wish IE would just disappear completely sometimes. ??

If you find any solutions, please let me know!

Thanks again for the great plugin.

If you get the chance, load this page in ie9 and see if you get the same results https://foundation.zurb.com/docs/orbit.php

Yes, the slider on that page works fine in ie9 for me!

Ok, will look into the problem and post back in a few days. Have a good holiday!

    I’ve tested on ie9 (windows 7).
    Tested using the following themes…
    Twenty Ten
    Twenty Eleven
    Starkers

All seems to be working fine. This may be a conflict with other jQuery code. Have you tried deactivating any current plugins that may be injecting jQuery. If that doesn’t highlight problem, it could be ‘theme’ specific jQuery.

Let me know how you get on

I tried deactivating the plugins that use jquery on my current theme and it still didn’t work in IE. I am starting to think it is some theme specific jquery that is conflicting with IE.

I just created a conditional statement to exclude the slider on IE browsers only. No biggy, as it still works fine in other browsers and IE percentages continue to decline.

I probably messed something up in my theme somewhere, considering how it works great in those other perfectly coded themes. This is my first custom theme I am building in WordPress, so the slider probably doesn’t work in IE due to user error (me) lol!

Thanks a lot for the kind help!

Shame you couldn’t support ie but glad to hear you have found a solution you are comfortable with.

All the best with your first custom theme ??
