I have the CMP plugin enabled as “Coming Soon & Landing Page.” Is there any reason I should also enable the WordPress setting “Discourage search engines from indexing this site”(?) under WordPress Settings > Reading. I guess I’m a little paranoid about pages winding up in Google/Bing before their time.

I’m testing some scenarios with noindex set for specific posts and would rather have the WP option (Discourage SEs) off.

CMP is a great plugin by the way. Thanks for any feedback.

Hello, thanks for reaching out Bob.

If you have Coming soon mode enabled, then WordPress Settings > Reading settings is not applicable because crawling robots cannot get trough Coming Soon page.

On the other hand, you might want to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” under CMP Settings > SEO & Analytics to make sure they do not index your Coming soon page, as it can take some time to reindex once you go live.

But if you have a good content related to your new website on the coming soon page already, then you might benefit from early indexing.

    Hope that make sense,

    Ales
