• Wondering if anyone can tell me if the WP Optimiser plugin (NOT WP-Optimize) is a legitimate plugin?

Seems a bit shady to me, but maybe I’m just being extremely cautious. It looks to be a commercial plugin and isn’t scrutinized within WordPress’s plugin directory.

The reviews that I see for it look to be more of the paid for variety.

Maybe I’m just being too cautious, hoping someone can help to shed some light.

We can’t say whether it’s legit or not, but you should only download plugins from reputable providers.

But how do you know who is a reputable provider and who is not.

Generally, I prefer plugins that are listed within www.remarpro.com’s plugin directory. At least from there you have a central place where you can view how many people have installed the plugins, how many stars it’s gotten, and read reviews or issues from the forum link.

I realize I’m a bit out of bounds by asking here. But I thought someone might be able to chime in with a thumbs up it’s good or a thumbs down it’s a money play.

What if someone from the plugin comes in and recommends you download it, saying that it’s a good idea and not a play on money? It happens and we don’t allow threads like this because of that reason. These are support forums for plugins that are distributed on www.remarpro.com, it is not our place to comment on the legitimacy of plugins and themes distributed elsewhere.

Exactly. Reputable places have documented and public reviews, and open stats of their download count. Find a reputable plugin repository or market place other than www.remarpro.com (they do exist) and check if it’s on there. If it’s not then you will have to come to your own conclusion of the plugin’s legitimacy based on that research.

I’m glad you realize that so’s you understand why I am closing this topic. This just is not an appropriate conversation for these support forums.

If you have a complaint about a plugin here then that will get looked at. If you want to speculate then that will get closed.
