wp opens a new page with pdf download link first

  • I use “ADD MEDIA” and then insert a PDF into a page (not into a post). When I view the page and click on the link it opens a new post with the media title as the title and then I have to click on the file name again in the new window in order to open the PDF. Any solutions out there?
    This issue had a solution 6+ years ago but the solution is no longer an active link on the word press site.

  • When you’re inserting a PDF link into a page, pay attention to the ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS before you insert into a page. If the display is linking to the attachment page, then you’ll get what you’re describing. If you link to the media file instead, clicking that link will open up the PDF directly.
