WP not importing all content

I had to reinstall WP after some weird issue with code being injected into my site. I exported prior to the reinstall and have checked the file and all posts, comments, etc. are there. When I import the file [and after about 10 tries] I am still missing the last 30 or so posts. And, if I try to import the images it is worse. The file is only 5.3MB, well under the 8MB maximum. Is there a way to import directly from the host end? Or a plug-in or something to help with this? I have searched, but am not finding anything thus far. I have been working on this for the past 4 hours now.
