WP Nivo slider displaying grainy pics

    WordPress is great. I have been using it since Saturday and am flying along. THat being said – the newbie has a problem….

    I wanted a slide show on my main page – so I downloaded and installed WP Nivo, and activated it, and placed the code under the header. I pulled photos that are over 2 Mb into Paint – and resized them to 400 x 300. Placed them as the feature image in my posts, and got al of that configured. It is displaying the photos in a slide show – but the pics are super grainy. Where did I mess up?
