wp NEWBIE HERE trying to migrate existing site

Do you have any .htaccess files in your root domain folder? Your login should be https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin Something else is adding the userlogon.

My .htaccess is in my /wordpress/ directory –not my root dir.

I added “userlogon” to show the 500 error I am getting on that page.

when I try to log onto https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin
get redirected to the following URL
https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/userlogon/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin/&reauth=1

any help IS greatly appreciated!

Something is rewriting the url and adding userlogon. The obvious candidate for such a rewrite would be an .htaccess file – either in your WP folder or in your root domain folder.

ok am making little inroads here thanks to your direction.

via ftp I changed back to my previous .htaccess file

so now https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/userlogon/
not erroring and looks like how I last left it

BUT
https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin
is redirecting me to URL:
https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/userlogon/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin/&reauth=1

Any direction is greatly appreciate b/c I am confusing myself at this point.

Did you install WordPress in the wordpress/userlogon folder?

no wordpress was installed in the wordpress dir. and that is where the .htacess file lives
The wp-config.php lives one dir above at the root

.htacess content below:

Then something is still rewriting the url and adding userlogon.

You should also have an .htaccess file in your root dir if you;re following the instructions in Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory.

I’ll tell ya esmi I was working so late the other night I don’t even remember what the heck I did– the only thing I remember is I was tired and frustrated ??

The other night when I created this mess I did print out and follow the “Giving WordPress Its Own Directory” b/c I wanted to eliminate the /wordpress/ dir from my urls. But then decided to do that AFTER I got the entire site migrated.
Looking at “Giving WordPress It’s Own Directory” maybe I changed something in the Dashboard General Settings.
The only problem is now I cannot get to my dashboard because I get the URL redirect when I try to log on via
https://aaintergroupnepa.org/wordpress/wp-admin
any thoughts as to how to get to dashboard via another route?

I renamed the .htacess file in my root dir to .OLDhtacess so that I would have it later on when I decided to do the Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory. once I had the entire site migrated

I think you may need to reverse the steps in Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory and use Changing_The_Site_URL to get the site back to where it was (ie working within the wordpress folder) first.

Changing_The_Site_URL looks like a goodie. Went to print out and my printer decided to malfunction :-0
Oh yeah it is a rockin Saturday nite here! ??
I’ll get working on that and if you have any other directives or ideas for me to look I am most appreciative!

userlogon at the top of my page?

got rid of the title ‘userlogon’ mentioned above
commented it out in page.php

don’t know if that is the “correct” way to get ride of it?
