WP Network, ok to put all your sites in one?

  • I manage about 7 wordpress sites (all personal sites) and right now each is a separate installation. I’ve been debating with putting them all in a WordPress network and using the domain mapping plugin, but I wonder if the convenience will come with a performance/stability trade off. Assuming everything is optimized, cached, and backed up regularly, does anybody have any opinion on which way is better?

    I think I might ask my web host the same question, but I was interested to get a wider scope of opinion.

  • I would suggest keeping the sites separate. Since they were all built separately you might run into some compatibility issue when trying to export/import.

    What is the main reason that you want to consolidate the sites into a network? If the idea is to have easier management then I would suggested looking into the following solutions:

    https://wpremote.com/
    https://infinitewp.com/
    https://managewp.com

    If you want to be able to update content across all sites by using a single install a WordPress network could work, but beware it might be time consuming to get everything running properly unless you are experienced in this area.

    This is not the purpose of a WordPress network. Each site in the network has it’s own content.

    WordPress.com uses multisite. So … unlikely ??
